Meet the artist

Sonya Adams is a stained glass artist whose work explores the relationship between light, space, and experience. Through custom installations and fine art pieces, she creates leaded and stained glass works that transform everyday environments into places of reflection, beauty, and intention. Her practice centers on thoughtful design, collaboration, and the belief that the spaces we inhabit shape how we feel and move through the world.

Sonya Adams has worked as a small business owner in the wine and restaurant industries, a historical writer, and an educator prior to working in the stained glass industry. She is a proud mother of two children and an avid lover of the outdoors and animals. When she isn’t in her studio, she can often be found hiking and kayaking with family, friends, and her muse and side-kick Rosie, the lovable shop-dog and fellow adventurer.

Adams’s stained glass journey began with stained glass, artist, mentor, and her now glass-father Ken Barrett.  Windows and doors are said to symbolize new beginnings, and in her case, that saying holds especially true. When a storm destroyed her front door, Barrett arrived to rebuild the panels, and what began as a conversation about art quickly led to an invitation to study in his studio. That first step through a new door became the foundation of a lasting creative path.

Through Barrett’s mentorship and encouragement, Adams gained not only technical skill, but the confidence to step boldly across the threshold and into the world of stained glass. That step marked the beginning of an ongoing journey—one defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and a lifelong devotion to creating work that invites light, meaning, and experience into the spaces it inhabits.
